Beagles get big boost at Westminster A beagle won "Best In Show" at the famed Westminster Kennel Club Show at New York's Madison Square Garden two nights ago. The occasion marked the first time ever that the beagle breed won the coveted title. Obviously, with the limelight focussed on the breed, beagle-mania will surely result. Such a wave of interest and attention seldom does a breed much real good. Too many backyard and "puppy mill" breeders will throw good breeding practices to the wind in an effort to cash in on the new found beagle popularity. Anyone deciding to buy a beagle puppy should be sure to patronize a recognized breeder, not a pet shop or neighborhood advertiser of a litter of puppies. Don't damage the breed by buying your puppy unwisely.
